Application Process
Applying to universities can be a tedious process. Once the application period starts, you should apply online as early as possible and make sure you do not miss any of the required documents. As scary as this may sound, the application and selection process for German universities is quite simple.

Before You Start
- Create a list of your target universities along with their requirements. Based on each university pre-requisites, sort and organise the documents.
- Ensure that photocopies of all the original documents are Apostilled (legalized) for Poland.
Online Application
- Almost all Polish universities have an online portal for registration.
- Register with your personal e-mail address and make sure you have access to the your e-mails all the time. Also keep a look-out in the spam folders regularly as you might receive e-mails there too.
- During the online application process phase, you have to:
- Upload the scanned copies of all your documents
- Fill in the details of the candidate
- Provide the recommender’s e-mail address (asked sometimes)
- At last, print the application and submit it online
Initial Profile Evaluation
The first stage of evaluation of your application takes one among three forms.
- Personal Interview: This can be either a telephonic or Skype interview. Mostly profile related or interest-related questions are asked that are mentioned in the CV or SOP. This could also be technical (based on the university).
- Online Test: Students are also evaluated based on an online test conducted by the universities. An e-mail will be sent to you with the test link. It will be a timed test with a couple of technical questions (enquire with the university for details).
- Your evaluation can be solely based on your online application and the documents submitted. In this case, you would just need to sit and wait for the verdict (in case of most universities).
Document Verification
- A few universities give their verdict which is solely on your online application. You would not be required to send any hard copies of your documents (the documents will be verified at the time of enrolment at the university).
- However, most of the universities will ask you to send Apostille (legalized) photocopies of your documents. The second stage of evaluation is done once you send the physical copies. You will receive the final result in a few days.
- You can make use of courier deals for students like Edulix Express to send the documents.
- In general, the university will send you the hard copy of admission letter after confirming your admission via e-mail.
Additional Tips
Follow these steps to ensure that your applications look professional and well organized:
- Arrange the application documents in the order as specified on the university website.
- Create an index page (or cover letter) that lists all the documents enclosed (follow the same order) and keep this cover letter on the top of the bundle.
- Use good quality papers to print all the important documents (CV, SOP, LOR etc.) and do not print on both sides.
- Do not staple the pages, instead use paper clips to join them.
- Write your name or student ID (assigned after submitting the online application) on all the important documents with a pencil.
Trivia
- Important: Do not panic if you are unable to keep up with the timeline. It is possible to start late and fall behind a few steps yet complete the application process (as long as you are able to manage all the tasks).
- The timeline for winter semester seems to be more relaxed as compared to the summer semester.
- The best time to apply for a university is always as soon as the application period starts.
- Starting with the application process early is the key. The sooner you get your first admit, the easier will be the whole process.
- You can start with the visa process once you get your first admit. You need not wait for response from other universities as you may run out of time to apply for visa.
